Forever linked with the disco movement of the 1970s, not least thanks to the inclusion of 'Disco Inferno' in both the film and soundtrack to ‘Saturday Night Fever’, The Trammps had achieved their breakthrough a good four years or so before. Their updated version of 'Zing! Went The Strings Of My Heart' and their own composition 'Hold Back The Night' had made them firm favourites in the UK; ‘Saturday Night Fever’ merely allowed everyone else to catch up. Also forming the backbone of the Philadelphia International Records houseband MFSB, The Trammps were as rhythmically tight and competent a group as existed anywhere; Earl Young’s drumming helped shape an entire movement, and there aren’t too many drummers who can make that claim! This album revisits their finest moments and offers their interpretations of recent dance cuts such as 'Motownphilly'.
