In the world of popular music, Terence Perkins is a classic rags to riches story. Terence was working as a milkman on the Isle of Wight, his birthplace, when he entered and won a local talent contest. The prize was an appearance on the television show '6.5 Special' and the resulting exposure earned him a recording contract with Decca, where he was billed as Craig Douglas. After two singles with Decca, neither of which made the charts, Craig signed for Top Rank and, by carefully selecting covers of American repertoire, soon hit the charts. He topped the charts with 'Only Sixteen' when the original by Sam Cooke barely made #23 and recorded eight Top 50 hits in a little over two years with Top Rank. Further hits were secured on Columbia and a return to Decca, and he later recorded for Pye and Fontana. Whilst his chart career may have ended in 1963 with the advent of the Merseybeat boom, his long term career was assured and Craig continues to tour the nostalgia circuit to this day. This album features re-recordings of all of Craig's hits, including both versions of 'A Hundred Pounds Of Clay'.
